A child unit is a unit that belongs to an existing property — for example, an apartment inside a building. You can add one directly from the Calendar, without leaving the page you're scheduling from.
Before you begin
The parent property must already exist in DoorSpot.
The new unit is saved as soon as you click Next on the first step of the wizard, not only at the final Save. If you stop partway through, the unit stays in your account — see Troubleshooting below.
Steps
Go to Bookings > Calendar in the left sidebar.
In the Units list on the left of the Calendar, click the property's name (for example, 555 Ocean Rd). The property's detail panel opens on the right.
In the panel's Units section, click Add unit. The Add child unit wizard opens.
On the General step, the Parent unit is pre-filled. Search for the address, or click Enter address manually to fill in Street address, Address 2, Country, City, State, and Zip code. Then fill in the unit info (Unit title, Tags, Segment — inherited from the parent unit — and Active) and click Next. The unit is saved at this point.
On the Details step, add Size, Bedrooms, Full/Half bathrooms, Market rate, Parking spaces, Basement, Cooling, Heating, Flooring, Washer/dryer, Pet friendly, Den/Office, and Amenities, then click Next.
On the Contract (Optional) step, add a Contract start date, an optional Contract end (leave it empty for an ongoing contract), Contract type, Notice to vacate (days), and a Vendor / landlord contact if you have one, then click Next.
On the Images & description step, upload photos and write a description (or click Generate with AI), then click Save.
Good to know
The Contract step is labeled Optional, but you still need a Contract start date to click Next — there's no way to skip it entirely.
The new unit appears nested under its parent property in Bookings > Properties/Units and on the Calendar right away.
Use Address 2 for a unit or building suffix if the street address alone doesn't identify it.
Troubleshooting
Don't see an "Add unit" button: Click the property's name, not an individual unit row — the button only appears in a property's panel.
Can't get past the Contract step: Enter a Contract start date. It's required even though the step says Optional.
Started the wizard but changed your mind: Leaving the wizard partway through does not discard it — the unit already exists in a partial state. Check Bookings > Properties/Units under the parent property and delete the incomplete unit if you don't want to keep it.
Other ways to add a child unit
From Bookings > Properties/Units: click the ⋯ menu at the end of the parent's row and select Create child unit. The same Add child unit wizard opens with the Parent unit pre-filled — continue from step 4 above.
