Add a property to start building your inventory in DoorSpot. A property can be a single-family home, a multifamily building, a master-leased community, or a standalone unit. For a building with several units, add the property first, then add each unit under it as a child unit.
Before you begin
Have the full address ready.
The property is saved as soon as you click Next on the first step of the wizard, not only at the final Save. If you stop partway through, it stays in your account — see Troubleshooting below.
Steps
Go to Bookings > Properties/Units in the left sidebar and click Add property. The Add unit wizard opens.
On the General step, search for the address, or click Enter address manually and fill in Street address, Address 2, Country, City, State, and Zip code. Unit title fills in from the street address — change it if you want a clearer name. Add any Tags, choose a Segment (optional), leave Active on, and click Next. The property is saved at this point.
On the Details step, add Size, Bedrooms, Full bathrooms, Half bathrooms, Market rate, Parking spaces, Basement, Cooling, Heating, Flooring, Washer/dryer, Pet friendly, Den/Office, and Amenities, then click Next.
On the Contract (Optional) step, enter a Contract start date. Add a Contract end date, or leave it empty for an ongoing contract. Choose a Contract type — Default (fixed-term end date), Month-to-Month (continues until canceled), or Notice Given (month-to-month with notice to vacate already sent) — and adjust Notice to vacate (days) if needed. Add a Vendor / landlord contact if you have one, then click Next.
On the Images & description step, click Click to upload or drag and drop photos (up to 10 MB each), then click Upload selected. Write a Description, or click Generate with AI (tick Include images to use your photos). Click Save.
DoorSpot shows "Unit added," and the new property appears in Bookings > Properties/Units.
Good to know
The Contract step is labeled Optional, but you still need a Contract start date to click Next.
Notice to vacate (days) starts at 30.
Use Tags to group properties for filtering later — for example by rate type (Corporate Rate, Seasonal Rate), client (a relocation company), or location (Near Downtown, Close to Airport). Keep them short and consistent.
You can add photos and a description later from the property's page.
Troubleshooting
Can't get past the Contract step: Enter a Contract start date. It's required even though the step says Optional.
The title shows the street address: That's the default. Open the property and edit its title.
Started the wizard but changed your mind: The property already exists after the first step. Find it in Bookings > Properties/Units and delete it from its ⋯ menu if you don't want to keep it.
Add units to a property
To add an apartment, room, or other unit under this property, see Add a child unit from the calendar.
