Modify an existing contact

Update a contact's name, phone, invoice preference, or tags when their details change.

Update a contact's details — like their name, phone number, invoice preference, or tags — when their information changes. Keeping a contact's record current avoids missed messages and billing mix-ups down the line.

Steps

  1. In the left sidebar, click CRM, then click Contacts.

  2. Open the contact's profile.

  3. Click Actions, then select Edit contact.

  4. In the Edit Contact window, update whichever fields need to change — Name, Phone, Invoice Delivery Preference, or Tags (and Email, if the contact hasn't signed in yet — see Good to know).

  5. Click Save.

Good to know

  • The Actions menu on a contact's profile has more than just Edit contact — it also has Re-send email invitation, Get invite link, Copy payment setup link, Request document signature, and Archive contact.

  • You can edit a contact's Email only if they haven't signed into their DoorSpot account yet. Once they sign in, their email becomes their username, so it can no longer be changed from your side — that's why the field appears shaded in Edit Contact for some contacts.

  • Tags are free-form labels you can add or remove any time — they don't affect billing or permissions.

Troubleshooting

  • Can't find the contact you want to edit? Select Include archived in the CRM filter — the contact may have been archived.

  • Don't see an Edit option? Verify your account has permission to edit contacts.
