Add a service fee

Set up a one-time or recurring fee — cleaning, parking, pet, utilities — once, then add it to any reservation.

A service fee is a one-time or recurring charge — cleaning, parking, a pet fee, utilities — that you set up once and then add to any reservation. DoorSpot stores it alongside your unit rates, so it's ready to apply in a few clicks whenever you need it.

Add a service fee

  1. Go to Bookings > Rates. This opens the Rate Fees list, which holds both unit rates and the fees you can add to reservations.

  2. Select Add Rate Fee. This opens the Add Rate Fee window.

  3. Enter the Fixed fee amount (required) — the dollar amount to charge, for example $150 for a cleaning fee.

  4. Choose an Interval (required): One-time, Daily, Nightly, Weekly, Bi-weekly, or Monthly, depending on how often the fee applies.

  5. Enter a Description (required). This is what identifies the fee in the Rate Fees list and later in the reservation wizard, so name it clearly — for example "Cleaning fee" or "Pet fee."

  6. Choose what account you want these fees to post to (required) — the account DoorSpot posts the charge to on your books, for example "4000 - Rental Income (revenue)."

  7. Select Save. The fee appears in the Rate Fees list and is now available to add to any reservation.

Good to know

  • Every unit can have one standard rate, but a reservation can have any number of these fees added on top of that rate.

  • You don't have to set a fee up ahead of time: from a reservation's rate picker, choosing Add a new rate fee opens this same form, so you can create one on the fly while building a reservation.

  • The account you post a fee to doesn't have to match your rental-income account — choose whichever account should reflect that revenue on your books.

Troubleshooting

  • Save is disabled in the Add Rate Fee window: all four fields — Fixed fee amount, Interval, Description, and the posting account — are required. Fill in whichever is still blank.

  • Can't find a fee you created: check Bookings > Rates for its exact Description — that's the only label it's listed under, so two similarly worded fees can be easy to mix up. Using a distinct description for each fee avoids this.
