Choose a bank account when recording a payment

Record a payment against an invoice or bill, choose which account it's paid from, and add a payment method or note.

When you record a payment against an invoice or bill, DoorSpot lets you choose which account it's paid from, and captures a payment method and an optional note.

Steps

  1. Go to Bookkeeping → Payables.

  2. Open the bill and choose Actions → Record a payment.

  3. Check the account shown under Paid from — it's pre-filled with your default bank account. Change it if this payment should post to a different account.

  4. Optionally choose a Payment method.

  5. Optionally enter a Note to keep context with the payment.

  6. Click Record payment.

Good to know

  • Paid from is pre-filled with your default bank account (set under Settings → Accounting). The field is required, so if no default account is set, choose one before recording the payment.

  • The Paid from list isn't limited to bank accounts — it's your full chart of accounts (for example, an asset account like a bank, or a liability account), so double-check you're picking the right one.

  • Every recorded payment keeps whichever account you picked, so you can always confirm afterward where it posted.

  • Payment method and Note are available whether you record a single bill, a batch of bills, or a payment from a unit's ledger.

  • A bill's detail drawer shows the payment method, the note, and the bank account that paid it. Payments recorded before these details were captured show a dash (—) in those fields.

  • Payments recorded against an invoice save and display the selected payment method, for example "Paid with: Check" in the payments list.

  • To change your default bank account, go to Settings → Accounting.
