Diagnose a failed workflow step

Diagnose a failed workflow step by checking its status in Session Detail and common causes, since DoorSpot doesn't display a written failure reason.

When a step in a workflow fails, DoorSpot marks it Failed in the workflow's Session Detail panel — but it doesn't display a written explanation of why. Use the checklist below to work out what likely went wrong.

Find the failed step

  1. Go to Communications → Workflows and open the workflow you want to check.

  2. Open Session History for the run you're investigating.

  3. Click into the step marked Failed to open its Session Detail panel. It shows the step's status and how long it ran, but not a reason for the failure.

Common causes to check

DoorSpot doesn't label the cause for you, so check the step's setup and inputs directly. Depending on the step type, common causes include:

  • The contact has no email address or phone number on file.

  • No contact matches the role or type the step was looking for.

  • The message template used by the step was deleted.

  • A message reached some recipients but not others.
