Tax is optional on a unit's direct booking setup. A unit that does not collect tax can be saved and booked without one, and a unit that has a tax keeps it exactly as configured.
Set or leave out tax for a unit
Go to Bookings → Properties/Units and open the unit.
Select the ⋮ menu and choose Edit, then expand Direct booking in the Edit unit drawer.
Enter the other required direct booking fields, such as the service fee and upfront deposit percentage.
Under Tax rates, choose the tax to collect, or leave it empty if the unit does not collect tax.
Save the unit.
What guests and invoices show
No tax set: the booking quote, the checkout total, and the Review & Sign step show no tax line. Invoices generated from the booking show no tax line either, rather than a $0.00 line.
Tax set: the quote, checkout, and invoices show the tax line. A tax that rounds to $0.00 on a short stay still shows its line.
Good to know
Saving a unit without changing its tax leaves any existing tax in place.
Clearing Tax rates removes the unit's taxes for direct booking.
The service fee and deposit percentage remain required.
