Record and Print Checks

Record or print a check payment from Bookkeeping. Printed check stubs show the unit for each bill they cover, and the check register lists the unit(s) for every printed check.

This article covers recording or printing a check payment from Bookkeeping → Check Printing. You can record a check payment manually or print a check that pays one or more bills, and each printed check shows the unit for every bill it covers.

Go to Bookkeeping → Check Printing

From the left navigation sidebar, click Bookkeeping to expand the submenu, then select Check Printing to open the screen where you record and print checks.

Print a check with unit detail on the stub

  1. Click New Check, then select the bills you want to pay with this check.

  2. Choose Print Check to generate the check.

  3. The check stub lists every bill included on the check, formatted as property and unit — for example, "Maple Court / 2A" — so the payee can see which property and unit each line item covers.

  4. If a check covers bills for more than one unit, the stub lists each bill's property and unit separately.

  5. Print the check to your check stock.

View units on the check register

Go to Bookkeeping → Check Printing, then select the Register tab to see every check that's been printed. The register shows the unit or units each check covers alongside the payee, amount, and check number, so you can identify which property a check paid for without opening it.

Good to know

  • A check's stub reflects the bills included on it at the time of printing. To change what appears on a stub, void the check and reissue it with the correct bills.

  • The unit shown on the stub and in the register comes from the unit associated with each bill, not from the vendor or payee record.
