The DoorSpot API lets another tool — your accounting software, an automation platform like Zapier, a custom dashboard, or an AI agent like Claude — securely read and update the same information you see in DoorSpot: units, reservations, contacts, invoices, service requests, and more. You don't need to be a developer to set up and manage the credentials needed for a connection.
Before you begin
You need admin (or owner) access to the DoorSpot account you want to connect.
If you manage more than one company in DoorSpot, use the account switcher at the top of the page to select the correct one first — connections are specific to a single company account.
Get started
Go to Settings > Developer and create an API key — see "Create and manage an API key" Article. Creating a connection's API Key itself takes about five minutes; building the integration on the other end is usually done by a developer or by setup tools built into the other software.
Click on the "Open API key +".
Decide what type of software you are connecting to with this key:
a custom integration or app your developer is building, or
an AI agent or assistant like Claude.
For an AI connection, we offer extra anonymization for your data. (See "Connect an AI agent to the DoorSpot API" for what's supported today with this option.)
Review "Security best practices for API connections" before sharing your key with anyone.
Good to know
The permissions table on the Create API key screen covers every resource the API can access, grouped into a few broad categories:
Reservations (Reservations, Restrictions, Rate Fees, Service Fees, Taxes)
Accounting (Invoices, Invoice Items, Payments, Ledger Accounts, Ledger Entries)
Units (Units, Unit Contracts, Unit Direct Costs, Segments)
CRM (Contacts, Companies, Tenants, Sales Leads)
Operations (Service Requests, Tasks, Communications)
Platform (Webhooks, Notes, Tags, Colors, Lists).
(See article "Create and manage an API key" for more details.)
For exact fields, request formats, and sample responses, use the View API reference link on the Settings > Developer page, or go directly to api.doorspot.com/developer.
